Fabulous photos, Kevin! I loved how you had lots of people shots as well as animal pictures - they were just wonderful!

Sean is the spitting image of you - while Marisa is the spitting image of Mari!

You guys all looked wonderful - I want to go back.....

And, I see you also saw my ELUSIVE cheetah family. Now I really have to go back! Was that the same family by Little Governor's as the one by Kichwa Tembo? And yes, it is a cover shot for National Geographic!

Incredible pics Kevin! Thanks for sharing them and tell the family to keep at the photography, they've all got a good eye! Enjoyed them all.

Other than being in East Africa what better way to begin a Monday morning than to see great photos such as these. Thanks for sharing and I also appreciated the captions. Dick

It sure looks like the same family - Sean is just a younger you.

Great crossing pics; always wonder why they pick a high bank on either side?

Sitting giraffe... I had a few towards the end of my album; check it out again. I'd like to see how they get up! Probably as awkward as when taking a drink at the river.

Great photos. Thanks.

Kevin, I really enjoyed seeing your pictures! One of my favorites is the landscape with the line of wildebeest. Great shot. I loved the cheetah with her cubs and the elephants and the crossing - you have many great images!
Thanks for sharing them. I also enjoyed the people and family shots.

Loved your pictures Kevin. Especially the elephants...we didn't see that many and I wish we saw more...especially walking through our tent! How cool!

OnlyMeOirish Aug 28th, 2006 07:24 AM

Kevin,
Those are fantastic shots - they take me right back there to Kenya! That cheetah mom plus now 4 cubs is a definate national geographic shot! Those cubs are getting big - we saw them (when there were 5) in late July and they have definately grown since then. I too loved the line of wildebeest - typical kenya. It really amazed me how they always went in a line.
Where, in relation to Little Governors / Kitchwa Tembo did you see the leopard and cub?

Great shots, Kevin and family! You and your wife look like the older brother and sister of your kids.

Love the cheetah cubs and the lion shots. That first lion/wildebeest photo is something. Eeek. I also REALLY like the one with the three giraffes looking so curiously at you.

I'd love to see video! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your family's wonderful photos! Can't wait to hear more about your trip.

stakerk Aug 28th, 2006 09:59 AM

Thanks all for the comments. Will be posting some more video soon.

Imelda: The leopard and cub were in a tree on the way south from the Governor's Camps on the east side of the Mara (the other side from Kichwa Tembo). We were on our way south to the Paradise Crossings on our last morning. The mama cheetah and cubs were not far outside of the west entrance to Little Governor's Camp (on the other side of the Mara River).

Kevin,
Thank your family for the wonderful photos. Little Governorīs looks fantastic. The reticulated giraffes are amazing and the baby cheetahs, the lioness close-up (was the photographer lying in the grass?), baby hyena, Lamu etc, etc.

Kevin:

Thanks! They were great! I love the leopard getting down the tree with the balloon in the background, and the giraffes with the rainbow is beautiful!

So enjoyed your pictures, Kevin. Would you reccommend the Carnivore Restaurant?

Carnivore is something to do AT MOST once. and say you've done it.

I sampled camel, ostrich and crocodile, but they also had some 'regular meat' I think there was also baked potato and some kid of veggie.

The link in the 12:43 post worked. How nice you have many photos of your family enjoying such a memorable trip.

Good balloon shots and the leopard jumping from the tree with the balloon in the background is exceptional timing.

Four baby cheetahs, all nice posed, is a feat! What a sight!

I saw the lion get the wildebeest that you had described earlier.

The running zebra--was that taken from the balloon? Stunning!

From hippo eyes to elephant herds, you have some beautiful pictures! I wondered about the one where you cut off part of the monkey--until I looked more closely.
