This isn't the best audience to address your question. Below I'm adding some links to forums on photography websites that are dedicated to Pentax dSLRs.

A few thigs I have read in the course of my research that you should know:
1. Everyone raves about the viewfinder on Pentax dSLRs; they're supposed to be much more comfortable to use than other entry dSLRs.
2. Pentax has a number of versions, and most people say the DL was not an improvement, so I think you're right to stick with DS.
3. I read a thread about limited availability of DS2, perhaps related to some weird marketing strategies and a partnership with Samsung. Here's the thread:

People at those forums should be able to address your question.

I read that the Pentax dSLR is compatible with all Pentax K-mount lenses (but keep the ~1.5x magnification in mind). I got one of the last Minolta dSLRs (now that Sony has taken over) because it accepts all A-mount lenses, and I have successfully used some that are over 20 years old. I think Pentax has the same advantage.
