Pay on arrival? Royal Egypt?

URGENT (leaving soon!). I am about to go on a 3 wk long trip to Egypt. I'm considering a number of tour companies so any info about any of them would be great. But first, pretty much all of them either require or strongly prefer payment on arrival of some or all of the tour price. Is this OK? It seems fishy to me. And most of them are very reluctant or refuse to accept credit card. Some allow for wiring money, but that also seems to have drawbacks. What's the best practice for paying for a tour?

The tour companies I'm looking at are Osoris, Golden Egypt, Egypt Online, and Royal Egypt (which is the current frontrunner). Again, any info or experience with them would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For my recent trip, I wired 50% and paid the balance upon arrival at the hotel.

I didn't use any of the tour companies you mentioned.

I envy you; wish I were going to Egypt.

All tours I've been on required payment in advance. Either by credit card or wire.
