passport question
Anyone know how many pages need to be available(blank)in your passport to travel to Africa? I've done more traveling out of the country the past 2 months and am down to 14 available pages. Thinking that is getting close to the limit?? TIA

14 blank pages are plenty, even if you plan to visit many countries on your trip.

Also, some countries (Kenya) require that your passport be valid for 6 months after your visit.

South Africa actually requires two facing blank pages for Visa stamp and other ink stamps.
Botswana simply stamps your passport in/out wherever there is room. Zimbabwe requires one page for their visa coupon and stamps. East African countries of Kenya and Tanzania require one blank page each. As mentioned above, you should have at minimum 6/mo remaining from date of travel to expiration of passport. If prior expiration you run out of pages, you can have pages added by the passport agency. Download the form from the passport site, of obtain at Post Office. Send application w/ passport to the agency. There is no fee; should be returned in 3 to 4/weeks. When time comes for renewing your passport, you can request the larger 48/page vs the standard 24-26/pages. |
How many countries are you visiting? If two, three or four, 14 pages will fine, but if you're overlanding Cape-to-Cairo, you'll need to add pages. If its a US passport, its very easy to have pages added.
