PASSPORT INFO. PLEASE

Can anyone tell me does a passport have to be valid for 6 months before entering Egypt or for 6 months after you entry Egypt or both?? I can't seem to get a straight answer on this question. We kept reading it was 6 month after but now have read some different info that said before. We have already purchased our tickets & our travel agent didn't seem to know. Thanks for any info. you can give us.

Many countries have such a rule that passports must be valid for at least six months at time of entry. I would never personally embark on international travel with a passport valid for less than six months even if you have been granted a nd hold a valid visa.

quite frankly...before/after entry sounds alomost the same to me .....

join mohammed on that one: i would not risk to be denied entry or face some trouble when traveling internationally.
just play safe and get at least 7 month prior/after entry or leaving the country of migration.

Most countries require that your passport be valid for 6 months after you enter the country, but I don't think I've ever heard any rules regrading how long you've had the passsport. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs http://www.mfa.gov.eg should be able to say for sure.

Some countries require that the passport be valid for 6 months from the date of your departure, not entry.

I am sure most countries want your passport to be valid for 6 mos upon your arrival in a country.

For Egypt, your US passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the period of visit, that is six months beyond your departure date. http://www.traveldocs.com/eg/er.htm

First, do not use this travel agent again. They should know this as part of there job. They should have been willing to assist. Many countries will not let you enter if your passport will expire within six months. So your passport must be valid for more than six months when you enter the country.

That's six months beyond the date of your departure from Egypt at the end of your trip. It is very specific, so do check your dates. There's no way to predict if you are going to run into a very officious immigration officer who just might decide to enforce this to the letter - and date. And it really is your responsibility to know this. I agree that your travel agent should know, but most of them have a disclaimer that protects them from responsibility.
