Panorama Route in half a day?
Hello!
I need your advice: I will arrive to Nelspruit airport at 11 am on a monday in May (8th) and have reservations (already paid) in Hazyview. Next day, Tuesday 9th, we will go to Elephant Sanctuary in Hazyview, and then drive to check-in at Elephants Plains in Sabi Sands. We have been told that it would be too much to try to do the Panorama Route in half a day. What do you think? If it would be too much, what could we do in Hazyview on May 8th? Thanks in advance! B |
Depending on how much time you spend in Hazyview you could probably get to God's Window and still make it it Elephant Plains in plenty of time to make the evening game drive (which you've paid for; too late an arrival and it's wasted money.) My recollection is that the Three Rondavels viewpoint and Blyde Canyon overlook are around 45 min. or an hour from God's Window, so you'd have to play it by ear. Remember you're looking at a good hour+ to get from Acornhoek to the SSGR gate, so proceed accordingly.

Gardyloo,
I was thinking about this itinerary: May 8th: Nelspruit airport at 11 am - Hazyview (around 12:30) - sandwiches on the road - Panorama Route - Hazyview May 9th: Hazyview - 8 to 10 am Elephant Sanctuary - Elephant Plains With those times, is it still doable? |
I think that's doable. Consider Harrie's Pancakes in Graskop for lunch.

Please do some research and reconsider your stay at Hazyview Elephant Sanctuary. They are still allowing the cruel practice of elephant back riding while there is a huge push in South Africa to outlaw many of these type of animal interactions. You could then spend the extra day on safari or on the panorama route. There is a lot of information out there if you just do a google search, here is one link to get you started:
