Orphanages in Cairo???
 

Hi All,

On our way to Cairo/Luxor in a week. My wife and I want to bring some supplies to an orphange in Cairo on our first day. Does anyone have any information on any orphanges that we could spend some time at? any suggestions would help. i heard about sunshine in luxor, but i want one in cairo too.

I am hoping Debbie will come on and give you some advice. My son's classes worked with an orphanage in one of the Cairo suburbs, but I don't know the name.

okay, thx. i'll keep checking. its just something we decided to do. whenever we go on trips, we want to give back while we are there. thx again. one more week!!!

Here I am. I really don't know much about orphanages though. I belive there is one in Maadi, not far from CAC. The issue of you spending time there would be that no one is very likely to speak English. You should find someone through a church or whatever to go with you and do the translating. Perhaps your church at home has some connection with a church here. Otherwise you might talk to the people at the Maadi Community Church (google it and check out their web site) to see if they can help in any way. At least they all will speak English and will probably know more about the subject than I do.
