That sounds terribly rushed and if you're planning to drive the Nairobi-Samburu-Nakuru-Mara segments, each of those drives can take 6 hours or more.

Given your time frame, I'd skip the Serengeti. Why drive all the way to the Serengeti for 1 night?

I'd also try to eliminate some of the other 1 nighters in your itinerary as all of that moving around can get very tiring.

Consider adding another night in the Mara, skip Amboseli, and fly Mara-Nairobi-Kilimanjaro/Arusha. Then spend your time in Tanzania split between Tarangire and Ngorongoro. The game viewing in Tarangire is supposed to be very good at that time of year.

I think you can do 1 night in Lake Nakuru and that will be enough. But just know that there is no Lake Nakuru Serena Lodge.

I agree with Patty, add more time to the Mara. 3 nights will be good. Better to have more time in a few places, than to constantly be moving. I'd also cut out another location.

I messed up original itinerary:
we are actually spending 1 night at
Nakuru - at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge
and 3 nights at the Mara Serena, 2 nights at Serengeti Serena.
Total trip = 16 days. Still sound too rushed? We just wanted to see as much as possible.

I know the feeling of wanting to see everything! I have to tell you though that it's easy to forget that you're on vacation and that you'll be in a vehicle for most of the time.

We had the perfect amount of time on safari and we stayed out ALL day everyday...without travel times, we had 1 full day in Nakuru and 4 full days in the Mara. That was the right amount of time FOR US.

I'd urge you to picture yourself in a vehicle, viewing animals all day. Obviously everywhere you go will be different---but you also may want to make your safari different...add walks, horseback riding, boat rides, etc.

Personally, I can't imagine being in a vehicle for 16 days or going on game drives for 16 days. I can definitely picture being in Kenya or Tanzania for that long, I'd just want a little more varied activity.

Just my two cents

I'm confused by your mention of 16 days. I added the nights up and it seems to be 12 nights/13 days (with the changes from your latest post).

2 nights Samburu
1 night Nakuru
3 nights Mara
1 night Nairobi
1 night Amboseli
1 night Manyara
2 nights Serengeti
1 night Ngorongoro

Total 12 nights. Am I missing something somewhere?

I'm glad you have 3 in the Mara. Even 4, like what Lucia did, would not be excessive in Sept.

Please list the itinerary once more with the correct Mara and Nakuru nights.
