Okavango Delta/Moremi Lodges

Has anyone stayed at Mombo Lodge or Moremi Game Lodgema in the Delta? Or the Tuli Block, at the Mashutu Lodges managed by Mala Mala at Kruger park in S. Africa? We must select a lodge for a trip back in 2002, and would appreciate your feedback. Many thanks, JC

Hi Joseph

Yes we stayed in the newly rebuilt Mombo lodge this June. We also stayed in Chitabe Trails and Little Vumbura during our Botswana trip.

We spent 4 nights in Little Mombo - it's fantastic.

We spent HOURS with various leopards and cheetahs and lions, only about 5 feet away from the completely open jeep and we would be with them for hours.
The rooms and cuisine both excellent, truly a superb superb camp.

We did 2 nts in Little Vumbura which was a geat contrast being based in the more watery area of the delta we went out a lot on boats (both the aluminium power boat which looked more like a baking tray on water and on the mokoro dugout canoes). Not quite as many large game, except for the hippos, but wonderful experience.

Not keen on Chitabe personally. Hardly saw a thing, accom not as exciting, and staff not quite as professional as others.

On the same trip we also went to Namibia and stayed at Wolwedans (WOW!!!) and Damaraland camp. (we were lucky enough to see 17 desert elephants during our day out there). Also stayed at Sossusvlei though would not recommend our accom which was the Sossusvlei Movenpick Lodge, but would recommend the destination.

Please email if I can help further.
