OK so it's not Africa but...

I am off way early on Thursday morning to India to attend the Festival of Wildlife in Ranthambore. I'm going out early to visit friends and family for a week or so and then the festivals starts with a couple of nights in Delhi. I've also added a couple of nights extra in Delhi at the end.

Chances of seeing tiger are low (read the latest update on David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation's website) but I'm hopeful that we'll enjoy birding and other game viewing anyway.

Next time I'll try and visit some of the other reserves well known for tiger viewing.

Anyway, see you guys in a few weeks!

Have a great time! India is one of my favorite destinations, even though I went to Nepal to try to see tigers (unsuccessful, but saw several rhinos).

Bon voyage, Kavey. If I ever get Africa out of my system or I win the lottery, India is on the top of my list.

Talk of tigers is always fitting here!

Yeah unfortunately it is possible to drive for a week in Ranthambore and not see a tiger and then again, you may get surprised ;)

I won't get my hopes up on the tiger - that way any sighting is just a bonus!

Have a wonderful trip.
Perhaps good karma will bring you a tiger.

Hey it may not be Africa but it does sound like a really cool, fun trip.
Look forward to hearing about it. Have a great time.

And you never know, a tiger sighting could be just around the corner. Fingers crossed.

Have fun, Kavey!

Thanks guys...

Well I'm ALL packed and ready to go!

Only thing I can't find are my prescription sunglasses which is a bitch. I have at least found an older pair - not ideal as prescription has changed but will give them a go - if they don't give me a headache I'll use them.

I have tomorrow to find the proper pair... but NO idea where else to look!

:D

Do they have one-hour eyeglass places in the UK? Just a thought...

BTW, I'm back from Tubu Tree, but no Grant...sorry I couldn't say "Hi" for you. He's now leading WS Explorations trips in the Delta.

Sounds great. Have fun and tell all when you return. Happy travels.

Kavey Mar 21st, 2006 02:08 PM

Not for prescriptions as strong as mine and I also have to request them to leave the glass in the tint soak thing for longer than usual to make it darker than their normal darkest tint!

:(
