October weather in the Sabi Sand

MalaMala's website tells me weather is low 66 / high 88. I'm wondering if by October 20th I will need the lightweight fleece that just came in the mail - it's a bit warmer than I expected - but I am wondering if the openness of the rover will make me want something warm. I was hoping to wear the jacket over pastel colored shirts so as not to have to invest in multiple khaki shirts. Any thoughts?

I would take the fleece, in October it can still be a bit chilly after dark. And dont worry about khaki, most MM visitors dont bother.

You can take it just in case, but in the SS during the first week in October (colder than when you will go), I used nothing warmer than a light cotton jacket over a knit-type top. And during the day, it was quite hot, even at that time of year.

Would a black or red jacket be o.k.!?

IT's spring time...........
just a t-shirt, sweaty and a windbreaker........
should be fine!

Hi SteveGC

Absolutely those colours are OK!

Kind regards

Hi kak113

I would absolutely take a warm fleece. I have been freezing cold in December and January - in the early morning and in the late afternoon/evening.

Kind regards

Kaye

thanks all. we are beginning the shopping for the trip and I'm glad to hear not everyone at MM will be head to toe khaki. my dear husband to be of course can't wait to wear safari gear and will be in full regalia.
