No reply from Lady Egypt
I read so many compliments for Lady Egypt. Yet after sending at least 4 emails (2 on website and 2 from my personal email) I still have yet to hear from them. I wrote to Mohamed and he did reply me that he wasn;t free to help during our time. I asked him to fwd my email to Lady Egypt - still no reply from them.
I reckon they must be so popular and thus too busy to reply. So I have decided to look to other agents for help. Glad I haven't signed anything with them. With this kind of service I can't imagine how good they can be if I were to give them my business. |
I must admit that we had the same issue with Lady Egypt. I had to write to multiple email addresses complaining about the response time before I got a response. We did eventually use them for a very short stay in Egypt and they did a wonderful job. Fortunately for us the people guiding us in Egypt did a much better job than those doing the booking.

Are you emailing your questions directly to Amanda from LE? I haven't had trouble at all with LE. Granted, I don't ask as many questions as I probably should though ;),but Amanda has been very prompt in the past getting back to me. Sometimes she's away on the weekend but she usually reply to emails as soon as she gets back.
I did use Mohamed when I was planning my trip, and he was very responsive. I'd be very surprised if Amanda (who gets stellar marks on here) didn't respond if you write to her directly.

I just got back from a month trip to Egypt & Jordan (Report coming) I used Ahmed Hamed Yousif found on this site E-mail [email protected] Our trip ran as smoothly as a Swiss clock. I had been in contact with him for 2 years and by the time I got there he was my friend. He added a lot of extras to our trip and made our anniversary and my birthday special.
If you need a guide I can endorse him. Chris |
Hi Chris! I've been thinking of you and assumed you were back about now! Glad you had a great time...........look forward to your trip report.
Hi Chris... how was your trip. We never did manage to catch up! It was fabulous wasn't it!
Ahmed did reply that he could n't do the tour at our time. I wrote to LE website and also personally to several of their staff (as listed on the web). I'm sure I wrote to Amanda also. I even begged them to just acknowledge my email even if they can't do the tour. I think LE has too many business (as its recc. by so many of you in this forum). I don't care for such service and attitude, though!! I don't believe they are the only best agent. Not acknowledging is unforgiving! Thks for your concern anyway.

I am surprised that you did not get a response from Lady Egypt. I had a wonderful experience with them helping me to transport my 20 guests from airport to hotel, to my house in Cairo and to other locations in the city as well as organizing all the sightseeing (transportation, guides etc). I found Lady Egypt very easy and friendly to work with and the services provided were really outstanding. My guests (a very discerning bunch by the way) were very impressed.
We also have been waiting for about 3 weeks for a reply. we decided to look elsewhere.
Might sound kind of stupid of me to ask but have you got the right email addy? If they haven't answered you or birds.
October was REALLY busy for me. I suspect it was for them too. If she is responsible for anything other than answering emails, she is probably behind and will catch up. Please be patient - probably.
I heard back within two days, and received very prompt replies to my subsequent inquiries. The hours of the agency are posted, but I found that they often answered back well past opening hours. I believe office is closed on Fridays.
If you can overlook the lack of contact they are really worth it. If you went with them you would be so glad you did.
Miss Green (and anyone else who has used LE in the past), when did you receive documents, final information about choice of hotels, etc.? We are scheduled to arrive in Cairo on 26 December. I booked the trip back in June or July (can't really recall now!) and I do recall asking Amanda "one last question" about Abu Simbel after paying my deposit, but I never got a response. I didn't think it was a big deal at the time, and figured I would get the answer sometime closer to the time of our trip, but this thread has me somewhat concerned. Should I contact them again?
What kind of documents? All I got was an email confirmation of my itinerary. When we arrived, they were there to pick us up, and the next morning, they came to the hotel to introduce us to our guide and give us some more details/logistics about our trip.
Soem other agents, once you write to them, there will be an automatic acknowledgement sent to you. If LE is so highly professional why are they so 'backward' and lagging with their reply?
BTW, does anyone know of "Come To Egypt" tour agent? Any recc. for this travel agency? |
I have to say I admire all of you who get their trip reports done in a timely manner-Miss Green-Your report was great-How can I compete with that???
I have done 2 reports on Trip advisor on hotels-gotten my pictures I want to show put in an album. Ordered my Christmas cards-on camels with pyramids in background. As I look over my pictures I realize how much ground I covered in a month. I have 1 more bag to finish unpacking-It arrived 4 days after we did-I think it wasn't ready to come home from vacation. I met a lot of wonderful people from different countries (Part of the joy of traveling) I am so sorry doreen that Ahmed couldn't accomodate you. I know as we were leaving it was heading into their busy time. I can truely see why. End of September the weather was grueling. It got more bearable by end of October. I wish I could pin point & say what was the highlight of the trip. Cruising on the Nile was phenominal-Relaxing in Alexandria for my birthday was wonderful. The kindness of the Egyptian & Jordanian people. Shokran to all of you who helped me organize this trip. fodors is the best site for info-Chris |
MMC - For me, there really wasn't anything to give me. I asked about flight details and I was emailed copies of the bookings, and I was given the originals when we got there. I was also given other little bits and pieces when I got there, such as useful arabic words, copies of itinerary etc. At the end of the tour Lady Egypt have a feedback form to fill in. My itinerary was set when I booked so I didn't have any changes of hotels. Wouldn't the hotels of been decided in the final price? I really got nothing in particular. On their website they have an info pack about Egypt which you can download. Amanda would email the same thing to you.
Chris - glad you had a fabulous time like me. 2 of my cases (I ended up with 4 large suitcases) are still on my bedroom floor with clothing, presents, new books, and various bits and pieces in there. I took a 7 inch laptop and typed each night. I need to go through my pics and sort them out as I want to get them made in to a book, but that seems all a bit much at this time. Oh, how I wish I could go back to Egypt next month! |
MissGreen, Benicia, myself (yes, I'm directing this to myself too), I think we should all stop trying to convince doreen to use LadyEgypt. They haven't been responsive to her (who knows why?), and I doubt she'd ever be happy with them. I can understand that -- when I was planning my trip, I immediately crossed off the list anyone I didn't hear back from, and btw, that included Ahmed! I was lucky enough to have heard back promptly from LadyEgypt, and had a great trip as a result.
Thks for all your posts. Yes, I did received reply frm Amanda, eventually. But by now I have got quotes from other agencies too. One agent "Come To Egypt" gives v good price. I have yet to hear from anyone who knows of this agent and its service.
I booked with LE as well and had no issues. Amanda is great! There were times when it took a couple days for her to get back to me, but it was at the end of Ramadan, or a weekend. We are booked for early January and I cannot wait. We also looked using at Memphis and I have to say, I was not pleased. For our own reasons we do not want to do a shopping/old Cairo day. I told Memphis 4-5 times to take it out of our itinerary and they refused. Said it was a must. It may be terrific, but we REALLY do not want to do that. After having him try to "force" us to do what we clearly did not want to do, we went with LE. Did I mention I cannot wait for our trip??!!
As a follow-up to my previous post, I e-mailed Amanda and asked her for the particulars about our hotels, and she replied the next day. So, my mystery is solved, and she was as response as she was when I was in the planning stages of the trip. I will say I would have liked to know what was booked when it was booked, but I guess I know now so no harm, no foul. Any comments on the Mercure Le Sphinx, Movenpick Aswan, Al Jamila (ship), Sonesta St. George or Cairo Marriott? (now that I know these are my hotels/ship)?
I can only comment on the Sonesta St. George. We stayed next door at the Steigenberger Palace. They had planned to have us stay at the Sonesta St. George but there was a lot of construction going on at the time (this was 2 years ago) so we opted for the Steigenberger. While there we walked through the ground floor of the Sonesta St. George and thought it was even nicer than that Steigenberger Palace, and that was very nice!
I stayed at the Steigenberger in Luxor and I really liked it. We had a fabulous room (118 I think) which was really large and overlooked the nile and pool areas. When I checked out the receptionist commented on what a lovely room I was in. We could see the Sonesta St George from our balcony and there was nobody outside in the pool area. Maybe it was closed off for renovations. I would happily stay at the Steigenberger again.
In regards to the cairo Marriott - my trip report details a few issues I had with the Cairo Marriott. I was there during a time when there were a lot of locals (arabs & folks from the middle east) staying there rather than tourists from USA, UK, Australia etc and I didnt like the atmosphere and service. We even had the room next door being treated like a kitchen with cooking smells and noise going on until the mid evening. We felt we were ignored and my guide said we probably were as they attended to the Arabs who were willing to tip big and pay whatever the hotel charged them. On our second time at the Cairo Marriot a week later, we had a nice time. There seemed to be a different clientele. We were looked after better, the place was not as noisy and the room next to me was not being used as a make shift kitchen by some rich person! |
