Ngorongoro Restrictions Info

As some of you know, I have been planning a september safari in Tanzania and Kenya. I had planned on two half-days in Ngorongoro because of the restrictions supposed to come in over the summer. However, a representative of Ranger safaris suggested two half days as not the best option and had this to say about the restrictions:

>>>It seems that there is some premature, and misleading, information on the
internet about Ngorongoro visits.

In fact, there are to be no changes until 1st January 2006. Currently
the proposal is that after that date, the crater tour fee will be more
than tripled to $100 per person, and the visit limited to six hours. A
full day visit will still be allowed, but will cost $200 per person.
These proposals have not yet been ratified.

NB: this is from a rep at Africa Safari Direct, UK agent for Ranger Safaris. Just thought I would pass it along as many seem to be planning the two half-days and may not need to. Of course, I cannot vouch for the accuracy.
