New Tel Aviv Intl. Terminal

I am interested to read reports of travelers who passed through the new Tel Aviv airport terminal, just opened about a month ago, and which is suppose to be very large and ultra modern.

It is a beautiful airport with large open areas. Extremely tall cellings with large glass windows. The airport is made of beautiful limestone, glass and crome.

The airport layout is like a wheel. There are shops and food in the center.
The food options are very limited. We only found two restuarants behind security. McDonalds and a local choice. McD is very expensive - a combo was $10 US.
Let me know if you have other specific questions.

I remember getting off the plane to be bussed off to the terminal, on my next trip will I get off the plane and into the terminal, like in USA?

My first impression of Israel was from that arrival: palm trees in the desert-type area. Some nostalgic feeling, don't know why. I miss it.

FainaAgain - you mean you want jetways and a new airport? Many airports worldwide transfer passengers via bus to the terminals... not unusual.

With the new airport they have jet bridges in Tel Aviv. Other airports in Israel still transfer by bus.

A problem with the jet bridges-
not all of them are working, so right now they are used for more popular flights-NYC LHR etc. to Addiss Ababa for example we still used the good old bus,
However they have a beautioful park (garden). beautiful mediterenian garden just infront of the termenial when you can spend couple of hours until flight, thats if you come on a sunny day.
The most important thing with the new terminal is the great transportation-bus, taxi train you can catch there to all destinations.

Just came back from Israel.

The new terminal is nothing less than GORGEOUS. Very efficient, beautiful, spacious, and even relaxing.

The center rotunda that leads to the gates, where all the "action" is -- duty-free shops and restaurants (more like fast food, but superb coffee and pastries) -- is fully open even at 3 am... Which can't be said about every major airport in other countries...

So has anyone taken the train from the airport to Haifa? I'd prefer not to rent a car, and it sounds like the train makes it pretty easy to get to the coast from the airport now. Just wanted first-hand accounts.

I haven't taken the train, but I know there is a very good train service to and from the new Terminal 3.
