Cairo Hotel Choice - Need advice
Hi, going to Egypt next month and need advice about these hotels:
Le Méridien Heliopolis
Le Méridien Pyramids
Marriott Cairo Hotel - Zamalek
I have seen in the posts that the Royal Nile Tower is good, but is it Meridien Heliopolis or Pyramids? I would like to stay in a quiet place, but also with view to the pyramids from my window room.
Thanks in advance

Of the hotels you've listed, I have only stayed at the Marriott, and I don't believe you can view the pyramids, which are several kms away, from any of the rooms, except perhaps distant views from some very high rooms. Heliopolis is near the airport, and will not provide pyramid views. My guess is that some rooms at Le Meridien Pyramids afford views, but check the website. If you want to stay near the pyramids, also consider Mena House Oberoi, which is within walking distance of the pyramids and affords views from many rooms.

I agree, Mena House Oberoi is definitely the best place if you want a view of the Pyramids from your room. Infact, their pool is set in such a way, that you get a completely unobstructed view of the pyramids. Squeeze-in atleast one night at this place..

I have recommended Royal Nile after staying there in March. Everything right about Heliopolis and Oberoi which is very nice for grounds. I have read that rooms in the blocks around the pool are more of 3 to 4 star (I imagine like the Marriott where I have also stayed) but great views to Pyramids and definitely place to stay if that is the priority. Main palace block has better rooms so I have been led to believe. Bear in mind Pyramids is not very convenient for much else. About 20 mins drive non rush hour into centre area, and really very little in way of interest for wandering around other than Pyramids.

I am a American Expat living in Cairo for 3 years now. Mena House has the best views but the rooms can be a little outdated. If you want the views you must request the old building that has balconies opening out right to them. It also has a great Indian restaurant, one of the best I have ever eaten in. Also the coffee shop has great views of the Pyrimids too.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
