Need help with Bots/Zim/Malawi itinerary for June 2006

I need help plannng an itinerary for myself and 5 friends. All of us have traveled to Africa before, but have always gone on scheduled safaris. We would like to go for 2 weeks (not including travel time), would like to be able to walk and absolutely want to avoid Vic Falls. Here's one idea:

Fly from U.S. to Johannesburg to Maun.

Maun to Kalahari--2 nights Jack's Camp

Kalahari to Moremi--3 nights Mombo

Moremi to Lake Kariba--3 nights Matusadona Water Wilderness Camp

Lake Kariba to Mana Pools--3 nights Chikwenya

Mana Pools to Liwonde Natl. Park--3 nights Mvuu Wilderness Lodge

I have no idea how we'd get from place to place or what the distances are. Does this itinerary sound reasonable or is it too ambitious? Will it be prohibitively expensive?

Since this will be the first time any of us has planned a customized safari, what do we do after we've come up with an itinerary? Do we contact several operators and just see what kind of pricing they come up with?

Any changes, suggestions or modifications will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.
