Need advise

We wish to cover both Masai Mara (3 days) and Amboseli (2 days) around mid August '16. Could anyone please suggest the most economical and time efficient way of covering both?…..Thanks in advance.

You can fly Wilson (NBO) to the Mara, then to Amboseli, then back to Wilson, using Safarilink and Mombasa Air. That would be the most efficient with flights taking around 60-85 minutes.

Check Safarilink and Mombasa Air sites for exact times and costs.

You can't drive between the Mara and Amboseli in a day.

For the most economical you need to consider:

*Is this a private safari with just you and your guide, driving the whole trip, and adding a stop between the Mara and Amboseli to make the drive possible?

It seems you wish to do the Mara first. You could drive NBO to the Mara (5-6 hours depending on where in the Mara you are going) Then after the Mara you could spend a night or two at Lake Nakuru (another 6-ish hours from Mara depending from where in the Mara you are departing). Then drive about 6-7 hours to Amboseli from Nakuru. The drives are on highways without animal sightings, except as you get very close to the Maasai Mara.

*Do you want a private safari where you fly to the Mara and to Amboseli and then hire a private vehicle? (Most expensive)

*Or would you fly to the Mara and Amboseli but use a shared camp/lodge vehicle upon arrival?

A safari specialist can help you cost these options and decide.

Aug is a good time for wildlife in Kenya, whichever plan you choose.

As suggested above, you can do flights; Nairobi - Amboseli and then Amboseli - Nairobi - Masai Mara.
If you are doing a road safari, be sure to include another park/destination in between say nakuru or Naivasha .You cannot drive from Amboseli - Masai Mara.. its a whole day's drive!

All the best and welcome to Kenya!
