Ndutu safaris

Hi,
This question is for anyone who has camped/lodged at Ndutu. Are the game drives restricted to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area or are you allowed to cross into the Serengeti NP? Are park fees required for each entry into the park if you cross the boundary?

Yup, you pay to cross from Ndutu/Serengeti and reverse in any one day.

The daily rates cover a particular area or park for a 24/hr period.

If staying at Ndutu lodge or in a camping site in the NCA it's $50/person/day plus a small vehicle fee (typically $7.50) to go into Serengeti. If staying on the Serengeti side it's $50/person/day to go to the NCA.

Typically the NCA side has been much better for us as there's more variety of habitat. We stay there and maybe in a week's time go one day to Serengeti, to Gol kopjes or perhaps Kusini and Moru kopjes for example.

sd kifaru,

If you are booking through a Tour Operator, you need to make your requirements very clear at the time of booking.

If you are getting quotes from different companies you need to know if they are including fees for just one or both areas, as this can make a substantial difference in costs.

If you stay at Ndutu Lodge (in NCA) note that most of Lake Ndutu is in Serengeti NP. This was a problem for us on our first visit when our tour company had only provided passes for NCA (and we didn't know any better!). On return visits, we always have passes for both areas so that we can have the flexibility that is important to us.
