Natal/Drakenberg Area, South Africa
We are planning a week's stay in the Natal area and would love suggestions of places to stay and things to do. We would love to wet a fly line or two in the Bergville, Kamberg, Himelville area. Any suggestions and fly fishing info would be great. Since we don't especially care for big cities, Durban is not where I want to stay. What are the best places to go to in St. Lucia Park? and any sugguestions about the best place to stay in Umfolozi? What Zulu kraals do you recommend we see?

My favourite place in the northern "Berg" is within the Royal Natal National Park itself. Accomodation is at the Royal Natal National Park Hotel or the Tendele hutted camp which is run by the Natal Parks Board. The scenery is quite spectacular at Tendele.
As for Zulu kraals, the tourists favourite is Shakaland near Eshowe (160km north of Durban).
Accomodation in northern Zululand is varied. In the St Lucia itself accomodation is in the village or in one of the camps run by the Natal Parks board.
