Howzit Uninda7,

We always rent our vehicles through Around About Cars, an agency located in Cape Town that has negotiated pretty good rates with some of the national franchises...see http://www.aroundaboutcars.com/windhoek-car-hire

Happy travels,
Darren Humphrys

HI
yea you can get a car on rent from any car rental company if you have proper and complete documentation.
I will suggest you Atlantic Choice its very cheap and also offering very low rates throughout the year. no cancellation amendment charges or even no card fee.
hope so my answer will help you.
thanks.
have a safe journey

Ulinda7- Thank you for posting this. We are also going to rent a car for our trip in November.

Can anyone let me know if we would need a 4x2 or 4x4? What do you all recommend?

DarrenHumphrys Apr 22nd, 2016 12:11 PM

Howzit europe2011,

If you're traveling the 'main' routes (which are still largely non-tarred roads) then a 4x2 will be fine, and a 4x2SUV even moreso to just give you that extra bit of clearance if you encounter some corrugations.
I'm guiding a mother and son for two weeks and we are traveling very comfortably in a 4x2 Renault Duster.

Happy travels,

Darren

New to the forum. Please bear with me. I'm traveling with a 13 & 9 year old and interested in a top loaded, 2 tent 4wd. What companies do you suggest? Also as a first timer to Africa. What vaccinations are required? The travel guides say we are good if traveling from the US.

Welcome to Fodors Psychotours. I would start a new thread of your own w/ your specific questions instead of piggybacking on an old thread.
