Namibia Experts - Is this driveable or flyable?
 

We are trying to plan an October trip to Namibia and our main interests are the dunes (Sossusvlei), Serra Cafema, Skeleton Coast and possibly Palmwag Rhino Camp. We first looked at an agent who had very high prices and wanted us to do all trips through Swakopmund...not our preference. Can we do part of this trip driving and then add flights for the farther destinations? Please provide your suggestions on how to see Namibia when we may only have 9-12 days.

You can easily self drive the Sossusvlei and Palmwag Rhino camp part of the trip (you may want/need a night in between the two locations or it will be a very long drive but very pleasant if you break it up. For Serra Cafema and Skeleton Coast camps you will need to fly. You should be able to fly from the Palmwag area but you will need to keep your car there for your return.

Are you not going to go to Etosha? It's a shame to miss it although hitting everything in 9-12 days is a little tight.

1 night Windhoek upon arrival
2 nights Sossusvlei (drive)
1 night Swakopmund (drive)
2 nights Palmwag (drive)
3 nights Serra Cafema (fly)
3 nights Skeleton Coast (fly)
or 3 nights Etosha area (drive) in place of Serra Cafema or Skeleton Coast

That would be a full 12 day trip but I believe it would be very doable.

You could gain time by flying it all but of course cost will increase. You can save on one flight if you do only Serra Carema or Skeleton Coast but both are supposed to be incredible. I missed those as our budget only supported driving it all the way and I wanted to get to Etosha.
