Namiba (11 days)

Just arriving from Namibia. - 11 days holidays.
We stay 2 days in Windhoek Country Club. Very nice and comfortable.
1 night in Hobatere Lodge, near Etosha. Very friendly Lodge. The bungalows are ok, but not luxury. Fantastic food, gret views.
We drive to Epupa Falls (in the north). A long way. Not very good roads. A little dangerous…It was raining. The roads are quite bad.
We stay in Omarunga Camp, in a tent (with WC), just next to the river- excellent!!!!
In the way back we sleep one night in Opuwo. The Opuwo Country Lodge is a new lodge (August 2005). The main Lodge is beautiful and the views are fantastic. The swimming pool in terrific (with a fantastic view) .The rooms (standard) are not so good.
We stay another night in Ondangwa (Pandu Hotel). It’s a comum hotel, not interesting at all.
And then 3 nights at Ongava Lodge – Fantastic! We loved. It was raining, so the animal stay away of the waterhole. But we saw a 3 rhinos there. And also lions at Etosha Park.

Tks.
1) I have some photos. I will try to organize and put online. Best free sites to put the pictures online.

2) Himba people…lot´s of…all away between Opuwo & Epupa Falls.
Lot’s of Himba villages to visit, welcoming tourists…
We decide not visit the villages.
We walked in around Opuwo, and contact with them (more or less), take a picture…

They don’t have money at all…they have cattle…they transport wood…its primitive way of living…

3) We didn’t contact a tour operator. I research at internet, books, and book by myself.
It was low season, so we get some promotions…also we get some rain…

I’m quite happy with my choices.

I recommend Opuwo Country Lodge – it’s brand new, so it’s difficult to find photos in the internet…but when we arrived there, it was a very nice surprise.
As I wrote, it’s better to choose the luxury rooms, because you will have your own balcony…
But the main Lodge is magnific!

Also Hobatere Lodge and Omarunga Camp.

Ongava, as lot´s of people have written here, is terrific too.

We skip the Ongava game drive (it´s very expensive), and some guest haven’t seen nothing at all (in the day we arrived).
So we decided self drive in Etosha (the 3 days), around 5 hours a day…
The first day was ok…but not many animals (it was raining a little) …we saw lot’s of zebras, giraffes, 2 foxes, and many kudus, springboks…etc…
The second day, it was raining more…we saw less animals.
In the last day, in the beginning of our drive (10am…LOL) at main gate (Anderson), after 2 minutes, we saw a lion alone, walking along the main road (tarred)…we drove slowly for 10 minutes…the lion just kept walking…
At 10.45 am, just 5 kms after Okaukejo, we saw not so close, but…not so far…5 lions…
We didn´t see elephants at all.
