I have not been following the road building too closely but I know that they are building a highway in the Serengeti !?
I think the government approved it recently.
What can you tell me about it !
Thanks

Percy - Not current on status of Serengeti Highway. There is a thread on this forum that has a link to a blog which might have an update. I'm sure a search will find it for you.
I last heard of something being approved, but it wasn't going to be the initial route that most weren't at all happy about.

Thanks sandi..... I think I read that thread but then I stopped following it.
Maybe by year end , we will get an update on the highway.

Hey guys, This is a great discussion. Thanks!
I'm going to be...hopefully (due to lack of money) be hitch hiking down from Nairobi to Johannesburg. What do people think? Any tips?
So there was the price mentioned of $10 by Aby. Is that about right? And then is it about $70 for an entry visa at the border? Thats what I saw mentioned on another forum.
As for the road or air... 100% the road!!!

Great discussion,to fly is faster as you have said but you will not enjoy the scenery.Better to travel on shuttle if you are not in hurry than air.I am in Kenya and i have been doing it for some time now and i have not experienced any security hitches but like any other place insecurity could hit anyone.
