Nairobi safety

How safe is it to arrive in Nairobi on an evening flight(8:45p.m.) and subsequently travel to the Norfolk Hotel?

It's fine. As fine as anywhere in the world.
Your Taxi driver will know the best route to take. If you want a driver who I can vouch for send me a personal message.

As safe as anywhere.

Are you traveling alone, for business or pleasure?

If the latter, did you book through a tour operator? If so they should be able to arrange to a driver to meet you.

If the former, contact the hotel and have them arrange for one of their drivers to meet you.

Otherwise, just take a taxi.
You will not be alone as many flights arrive in the evening.

Again, 1200Ksh is a fair fare if you get a taxi to town from JKIA.

If they want to charge you more, beat them down... or shop around until you find someone who will do it for that price.

Contrary to the advice of a travel agent in the UK almost all transactions are done in Kenyan Shillings. I know some tour operators prefer dollars... but on the streets and in the shops Kenyan shillings.
