Topic: East Africa safari Itinerary
c/o African Spice Safaris

What a glorious safari trip we had in Kenya and
Tanzania. I wanted to take a moment to share with you
our personal experiences with African Spice Safaris
who exceeded our wildest imaginations and made us feel
cared for like never before!
Our program was 14 days and 13 nights in total from
the 14TH to the 27th of March 2005. Starting with our
arrival in Nairobi our Tour director Hillary waited
for us and then checked us into the Intercontinental
Hotel, continuing with a safari briefing the next day,
then a tour of Nairobi with a pleasant lunch at a
private farm house built at the turn of the century by
British settlers. Fiona Vernon hosted our visit and
served us tea and biscuits in her lush garden with its
views of the Ngong hills.
Our short flight to Maasai Mara the following morning
added the advantage of great views of the dramatic
Rift Valley and saved a great deal of time because we
got to the Mara early enough for an extra game drive
where we saw hippo’s and crocodiles basking by the
banks of the Mara river in the midmorning sun.
Settling under canvas in a Hemingway-style safari tent
fitted with every bit of silver service luxury you can
imagine was utterly unforgettable. The two nights in
the Mara at Kichwa Tembo were extremely exciting as we
heard lions roaring, hippos grunting and Hyena’s
giggling all night. There was no need to worry…..as
they told us ‘Hakuna Matata’ and the fact that we were
being pampered by professionals we were completely
safe. Indeed we were totally in love with Africa.
The next 5 nights in Tanzania were just as exciting as
we stayed in Serena Lodges which had the most
breath-taking locations and views, personalized
service, African cusine and easy access to wildlife.
We came to learn that they were located in the Big
five territory.
Coming back to Amboseli National Park in Kenya, we met
Kenya’s legendary Maasai people. We visited their
village and learnt about their culture, history and
more importantly their vision about the future.
Amboseli offered us the best photo opportunities of
Kilimanjaro with large herds of Elephants.
The crowning glory was the last two nights we spent at
the famous Mount Kenya Safari club. Here we
experienced warm individual service, innovative
cusine, comfort and privacy as we enjoyed the views of
the snow capped Mount Kenya from our rooms. All in all
the major contribution to the success of our safari
was the attentive work and efforts by our Safari
Director Hillary. He was always readily available,
informative, on time, cheerful, upbeat and full of
humor. We could have not have found anyone to guide us
better than Hillary.
We felt greatly honored to find our rooms all ready
and waiting for us at all locations, dispite the high
season and most of all were happy with the value of
the entire package in relation to the price. To sum it
up the details put into this trip from start to finish
was incredible. I admire the organizers of such a
task. Hats off to you all at African Spice Safaris and
I’m definitely planning my visit next year.

Hi All,
Very happy you had a great trip. Are you a travel agent or associated with a travel agency?
Nice that you "heard" a lot of animals, did you see any other than elephants?
At the Mt Kenya Safari Club did you see any big game or did you just enjoy the wonderful cuisine and personal room service?

Travel John, I am glad you had a great time in East Africa!

It's always good to learn about solid local outfitters, but do you know why African Spice is not a member of the Kenya Association of Tour Operators? Are they licensed in Kenya?

And since they are absent from the list of licensed outfitters, how did they handle the parks in Tanzania?
