For SA local airlines I also had bad experience with Nationwide in May 2007. Flying from Nelspruit to JNB to catch flight back home. The Nationwide flight was over an hour late; and worse there was no, none, information available from them about why, or when the flight would leave from Nelspruit. Just that it would happen. Very strange and very uncomfortable. I will try to avoid Nationwide if at all possible.

regards - tom

I thought the wild dogs were just about gone from Madikwe, has that changed? Have they restocked from the captive breeding program? Given that dogs denned at MM this year for the first time since 2004, it shows they are difficult to guarantee.

I think it looks like a great itinerary.

The dogs are doing fantastic in Madikwe. The pack that I saw last weekend on the kill had a minimum of 16 dogs and the youngest ones were 10 months old. There is another pack in the park, as well.

Once the pack I saw has puppies in a few months, the pack will more than likely break up.

With no borders between lodges and an area about the size of the entire Sabi Sand, Madikwe is a fantastic place to see wild dogs. Would love to visit the Sabi Sand and not be limited by the invisible borders between each property...whether at Mala Mala or a smaller property, chances are that at least a couple sightings will be affected by these invisible borders.

Doogle, you are the other end of the spectrum from Kaye who spends weeks on end at Mala Mala, repeatedly. Interesting to have that spectrum represented here.

My lion viewing for my 4-night stay in Mala Mala this past June was subject to the situation you described using elephants as an example. The pride dynamics were in disarray and I saw only one mating pair, though I saw them twice. On the other hand, the 5-week old wild dog pups had just emerged from the den.

Each day out at Mala Mala was something different, even though many of the species were the same.

Hari, have you announced your Mala Mala trip before? It was news to me here. I would have preferred 5 nights to 4. Does that mean Tanzania will be put off until later?

Tom Thanks for your Madikwe summary here. I might copy and paste it in another post where I had stuck the link to your entire May trip.

kak113 Let us know what you decide.
