Muscat beaches

I've heard conflicting reports about the beaches in Muscat and cant make up my mind between the Chedi and Al-Bustan. I like the sound of the Chedi but I'm not sure how much of a drawback the public beach is. I'd be grateful for any advice.

I'm not familiar with the Chedi, but the Al Bustan has a wonderful beach.

The Al Bustan beach is much better. It is private and very large(1km or more) They also have a second beach that is a short 5 minute walk, again private but left in a natural condition.( no umbrellas or chairs) Your choice.
While the Chedi is new and of modern style, the beach is not big and open to everything from ball players to merchants.
If the beach is your main criteria ,the Al Bustan wins by far.
The Al Bustan is 20 years old but in perfect condition after a major renovation several years ago. It is done in the Arabic style, with excelent service. The situation offers total relaxation with the sea and mountains surrounding you.

The Palm trees planted years ago, are mature and offer a perfect background to the beach.
We have enjoyed it so much that we return for the third time next month.
