Mozambique: Swimming + resorts with charm?

Greetings,
We are starting the process of planning a trip to Botswana and Namibia next September and always like to end such excursions with some ocean swimming.

I am starting to research mid-range resorts in Mozambique and wondered who among our well-traveled Fodorites might have recommendations for places on a beach that have character & charm (in addition to a swimmable beachfront ).
Thanks!

My husband and I are also thinking of ended our Botswana safari with three nights in Mozambique. Would love to know what you decide and how it all turns out. Please post when you decide .
Also from Oregon

Also chiming in because next time I am fortunate enough to be in that part of the world (just returned!) I would like to include Mozambique. So tempting when it is SO close to RSA.

Anyone here familiar with Maputo and care to comment on its interest for a tourist who would like to soak up atmosphere, visit markets, and eat shellfish? Any good hotels?

Careful:- just saw on the BBC that the Rio Tinto company is evacuating families so there must be some trouble there. Haven't seen any more news on this.

The Wall Street Journal travel article tells people to go now, before the country gets "too developed" (assuming there is no trouble there at the time, however!)
