Mozambique, Bazaruto, Kruger Park – a different question, succulent plants

First of all, thanks Julian and bibini for the very helpful information … we are still gathering information, as this is all a new world !

I am a cacti and succulent hobbyist, and maybe someone here knows about such plants in the places I go (Mozambique – Maputo and Beira region - Bazaruto island, Kruger Park) particularly succulents. Many wonderful and rare succulents are in Africa.

Thanks

Hello,

For succulents in Kruger you'll want to go to the drier reaches of the parks, such as the Pafuri area up in the far north of Kruger.

It doesn't fit easily into your trip, but the best place to go for succulents would be Namibia -- there are some very unusual succulents in the desert there, including the geophytes which disguise themselves as rocks to ward off hungry antelope and the bizarre looking bushman's candle. There are also some other very unusual plants like the welwitschia.

Cheers,
Julian
