Moving adverts on Fodors page
I dont know about whether this effects anybody else but I would be keen to know.
I find that I cannot read Fodors message pages anymore because the moving adverts that come up on the screen hurt my eyes intensively. Am I the only Fodorite having this problem? In my opinion no travel tip is worth it if it is going to cause me eye problems and if I am not on my own on this issue then maybe we should ask Fodors to re-evaluate these adverts.
Lets hear your thoughts.

Hi Selwyn,
This is your Nov 5th appointment speaking.
I hate those moving ones as well. They are so annoying that I would never click on one or use that product. But haven't seemed to have any lately once I get into the threads.
Is your pop-up blocker on?

While I see adverts, none of them are moving. For example, right now there's a Sheraton banner ad across the top, and a US Airways ad just below this box, but both are frozen, non-moving. I probably no less about the Internet than everyone else on this site, but can it be different based on your ISP or region?

Same for me - non-moving, one on the right, one on the bottom. On all browsers I use (IE, Firefox, Opera).
The ads are provided by DoubleClick. If you're using Firefox, install the free Adblock extension and put ad.doubleclick.net on the block list - you will never disturbed again.

Hello all,
Thanks for all your comments and advices.
Not every advert has a moving sector to it. I would say every third advert seems to have this type of facility. My pop up blocker is set to block these type of ads but this has not worked. Suppose I will have to suffer on. :'(

Popups open new windows. From what you described these moving ads are NOT pop-ups, they move in the same window, thus a popup blocker isn't of much use here.
I just tested the solution I told you above - no ads on the topic pages at all.
