Mosquitoes in Turkey

Last September we made a trip to Turkey, and as usual, we bought Fodors and followed many of its suggestions. One thing we did not expect was that Turkey has a very aggressive mosquitoe population. The hotel room did not have air conditioning or screens in the windows, and we would wake up in the middle of the night to find we had been bitten like crazy. If you are planning a trip to Turkey between May and early October, it may pay to stay at a hotel with Air conditioner, you will be saved from the mosquitoes, and from hearing the call to prayers broadcast on loud speakers all over town at 5 am.
