Mosquitoes in Egypt

We are going to Egypt in November and will be taking a cruise on the Nile. Will mosquitoes be a problem?
Thanks!

We were in Egypt end October and not a mosquito in sight.

That said, some Travel Medical Clinics or physicians specializing in Tropical Diseases might recommend Malaria precautions for Egypt. However, I haven't heard of anyone traveling here to have taken Malaria Meds; besides the mosquitos here are not the same ones that cause all the problems in other parts of Africa.

Once you have the information discuss with a physician who specializes in Tropical Diseases - ymost general practicioners aren't current on these issues.

Check the government site for travelers (sorry don't have it available) and select info on Malaria and the country you'll be visiting and the meds recommended or not.

In January the only place I had a problem was in Cairo. Luxor, Aswan, Nile, Sharm were fine.

Been to Egypt 4 times and going again next month - still haven't seen a mozzie though. We would only take medication if we were going to one of the Oasis like El Fayyum where you may see them.
