Morrocan phrases of note.

I was just wondering if anyone had a small list of Handy phrases for general use in Morocco.

In Egypt I used "Laa Shokran" (no thank you)..a lot !!!

Do you know any French? I've read that's as useful as Arabic (maybe more so)- especially in the cities.

In the back of my Eyewitness Morocco guide there are some Moroccan-Arabic phrases - I guess some differences from Arabic used in other countries. I'll try to remember to get the book out & tell you a few it lists.

I wish I could remember more of the French I learned in school. Best recall is the song Frere Jacques...not helpful!

Marko - if you check back here - when is your flight? Isn't it coming up soon? Any impact from the volcanic ash on your flights?

Sounds like airports are starting to open today - I hope that means this will all be behind us by May. I talked to Air France yesterday (we fly through Paris) and the agent talked me out of re-routing our flight. For peace of mind I could've gone direct from JFK to Casablanca but it would've cost around $900 (for both of us). At this point I'm sitting tight and keeping an eye on it as you said. Good luck!
