Morocco itinerary - revised yet again
 

We have been hemming and hawing over our itinerary and revised it yet again. We made the final decision to save the desert for our next visit as we're going in early July and it will be hot... We're booked for 6 nights, flying in and out of Casa, and the two cities we definitely want to visit are Marrakech and Fes.

Does this look like a good and logical itinerary?

1. Arrive Casa early morning. Travel by train to Marrakech
2. Marrakech
3. Drive to Imlil (we're intrigued by Kasbah du Toubkal but would welcome other suggestions if there's another area we should see). Spend night
4. Drive to Fes. Arrive early evening?
5. Fes
6. Fes
7. Depart early morning from Casa for US.

The drive from Imlil to Fes will be a long one. Going via Beni-Mellal, the journey takes 8 hours from Marrakech - plus another 1-2 hours to get back to Marrakech from Imlil.

How are you getting from Fes to Casa early in the morning of your last day?

I was thinking we'd take a train from Fes to Casa if that works.

Thanks so much for your input, Jenmaroc! The drive to Fes will be long but we're staying put for the most part so I think we won't mind and will enjoy the scenery. We haven't decided yet on whether we'll rent a car ourselves or hire a car and driver.

if you have an early morning flight from Casa, there is no train that will get you there in time. The first train frm Fes leaves at 7am and arrives in Casa around 11:30....and then you have to get a train to the airport.

You might want to think about taking a late afternoon train from Fes the night before. You can stay atthe Ibis hotel located at the Casa train station - and then just hop right on the train the next morning for the airport.
