Morocco & Spain with Kidos!

We're trying to narrow down summer 2016 plans. We are a family of four--2 adults, 2 children ages 7 and 12. Looking to spend 10 to 14 days touring Morocco and/or Spain. Main interests are food and culture--we love adventure travel. Like to be in places at least 2-3 days at a time before hopping to next location--kids seem to only remember the places with swimming pools! There is a direct flight from our hometown, Charlotte NC to Madrid at a reasonable fare. Always wanted to travel to Marrakesh but not sure how to work it all in. Is it advisable to do both Spain and Morocco or should we pick one country?

Marrakech can be hot in summer. Yes, there are pools in Morocco, too, but if it's 100º and kids want only pools, not sure it's worth the effort getting to Morocco when they might enjoy it much more in spring or fall. You may want to concentrate on Madrid and northern Spain that time of year.

Good point! I might add that we like to tour in the mornings and let the kids swim in the late afternoons. We plan to travel the first two weeks of June 2015.

One of my stays in Marrakech was in March to avoid the heat. That I did and it was cold and rainy and fairly miserable, no heating in the hotel. So it's difficult to predict at any time of year. But June is less likely to be very hot than July & August. But for 2 weeks or less, I'd choose one country or the other, not both. I still think Spain might be better, despite my love of Morocco, in summer for so short a trip. Save Morocco for when you have more time to devote to it. It's worth it.

If you only have two weeks, stick to one country, be it Spain or Morocco.

Thank you for your replies. I was hoping to be able to juggle two countries, however, it makes sense to land on one--especially if temps are starting to rise in Morocco!
