Morocco and Alcohol

My wife and I are planning to do a trip to Morocco in March, combined with Spain and Portugal. What is the situation with buying and consuming alcohol in Morocco.

Alcohol is served in many, many restaurants and cafes, and there is no stigma attached. Though a Moslem country, Morocco isn't hardline compared to other countries. Play it by ear; if the restaurant has a bar, order drinks. If no bar, the menu will offer a selection of alcoholic beverages. If the menu doesn't list them, ask the waiter. The hotels cater to people from all over the world, and usually have a full bar.
We were three American women, traveling alone, and never felt uncomfortable ordering beers or wine.
Enjoy your trip - Morocco is a fascinating country!

Just recently returned from Spain, Portugal and Morocco. What a trip! We travel with our 14 year old daughter and Morocco was truly an experience. Alcohol was not really a problem but a guide can help you find liquor stores. Restaurants on occasion would put us in a back room to serve us a beer because of the day of the week....whichever that might have been. Morocco is wonder...enjoy your trip.
