migration serengeti

Does any body know where the migration in serengeti is at present. I am going on nov 1,2,3 night to lobo wildlife lodge, What is my reasonable chance of seeing the migration,Sonali.

Sorry, I'm not a betting woman, so I can't give you the odds.

"Normally" that's the right place to be in November, I believe, but I haven't heard or seen anything about the migration in the last few months. Maybe climbhigh or Sandi have spoken to someone on the ground in Tanzania recently.

Good luck--I hope you see amazing wildlife, with or without heavy migration numbers.

Does anyone know of other websites that provide updates?

sonali:
Thanks for the site info--I like the Atta/Nomad one--even though it has me a bit nervous for my trip next Feb--shows how unpredicatble the rainfall and hence the migration can be.

bat,
Think of it this way, if you miss the migration, it just gives you an excuse to return ;)

Thanks for the additional links, Nyamera and sonali!

yes the migration is very unpredictable,I think u just have to be lucky. If you are going in febuary then u will definately see the migration, try keeping more than 3 nights in serengeti near the short and long grass plains. Even if the rainfall is erratic you can go for a long gamedrive one day with picnic lunch and catch the migration, best of luck,Sonali.

The migration is not one big blob that moves as one!. While in the Serengeti it can spread out over huge distances.

The camps only report what they see within their comfortable game drive perimeters. It can very well be that the spearhead of the Migration is reaching the Masai Mara while stragglers are still in the Western Corridor!
