migration, cats serengeti october end nov beginning 2005

Hello I am going to serengeti tanzania in the last 3 to 4 days of october and first 3 days of nov. I want to watch alot of lions, leopards and cheetahs. I also want to see the migration. I am staying for 3 nights in seronera wildlife lodge and 3 nights in lobo wildlife lodge. Is this itiernary good for watching the migration and cats?? Can some body give me some helpful hints regarding game drive routes and migration location in october end,to make the most of my trip, cheers,Sonali

Sonali,

You should see plenty of lions in the Serengeti. Seronera is near the cheetah plains so you have a great opportunity to see cheetah. I recently saw two leopards near Seronera. Of course, leopards and cheetah are difficult to spot as they actually move during the day- lions will tend to mimic your lazy housecat.

We have just returned from Tanzania and were at Lobo for a few days and thought it was great . We saw heaps of Cheetah and lion and the tail end of the migration. Lobo was one of our favorite spots in the two week trip we did with Roy's and may I mention they did a fabulous job on our trip!!!

hi thanks alot for your input. What do u mean by the tail end of the migration??? Has the migration crossed lobo area and gone to the central and eastern areas of serengeti?? or is the migration in mara and it is trickling down towards lobo, pls tell, did u see any leopards?? Also were u in the seronera area of serengeti? How was animal sightings at seronera or other areas of serengeti other than lobo Sonali

Sonali, I don’t know if this is of any help when you’re going to the central Serengeti, but Tuskerdave is in the Mara right now and I remembered that I had his driver’s number, so I sent him an SMS and got this reply 5 minutes ago: “Yes we are having a good time and everything is OK here. Migration is on the west side of the Maasai Mara. We saw the crossing today and it was so interesting. Also again the cheetah on top of the car twice yesterday. David is so happy here in Kenya.”
