Merry Christmas -- Special Snow Angel
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. I came across a special snow angel while snow tracking through the aftermath of the Denver blizzard.

Such a serendipitous discovery! Thank you for sharing such a rare sighting and knowing what it is?!

Okay, I'm dying to know what made that?? I have a vague recollection reading about something that makes that unusual track but can't remember what it is. I'm going to guess wolverine???????

Lily: it was actually a great-horned owl. The inprint from the wing extends toward the bottom of the picture and the tail is more faint going to the left. It landed there to grab a rodent out from under the nearly 3 feet of snow.

Very cool!

The owl is an artist! Predator, thanks for sharing. Krismasi Njema.

Awesome!!!

3 feet of snow? It will probably not melt until July........
|
Hari: the weather folks are predicting another 12 to 18 inches to fall the next two days. Honestly the strong Colorado sun has already melted most of the first storm, of course there is a small mountain of snow still next to my driveway from my shoveling.
Too bad your in Disneyworld or I could show you how to build a snow cave and who knows what I'll find after this next storm but I'm sure it will be something cool! With a little smaller storm I'll be able to explore a much larger area. |
Pred,
Hour hour from Disneyworld.....staying away from the tourists..... Hari |
Pred: My daughter and I are coming out in a few weeks to visit at Boulder. Do you think it's necessary to rent an SUV? Do you think we'll see any animals in the RMNP at this time of year?
|
Lin: you won't likely need an SUV for Boulder, if you are going up to Rocky Mountain N.P. it could be nice to have one. You will probably be fine without one though as long as you pay attention to the weather and don't try to drive through any big storms. If you can rent a Subaru Outback that would be perfect for all conditions.
You should elk no problem around Estes Park and just inside RMNP. With a little luck you may see coyotes or bighorn sheep too. Feel free to email me direct if you have any questions about the area or if I can help you with anything. I live just over 20 minutes from Boulder. |
