Mergouza dessert tour question
hello,
so i booked a tour to the mergouza excursion for 3 days, 2 nites. i read on their website that they didnt provide u with sleeping bags for the overnite in the dessert... i was like...come on... did any one go on this tour? did you have to buy ur own??? thanks! |
oops, i forgot to mention it was booked through hotel ali, sahara expeditions...
|
I have not been on such a trip but I know someone who did...he said that the night in the desert was totally outfitted with wonderful tents that had beds/cots, linens, blankets, pillows, etc.
Is it possible that they are not providing sleeping bags because they have much better sleeping arrangements? |
That's my reading of the situation too. I've done 3 camel excursions and sleeping bags were never provided - because they werent necessary.

exnx,
Is that the Hotel Ali in Marrakesh that you booked through? This is very out of date, but when I was in Morocco about 9 years ago, my friends and I stayed at Hotel Ali and they arranged an overnight desert trip to Zagora for us. It really wasn't with a "tour operator" per se, though. :-) It was amazing and extraordinarily cheap - at the time if I recall correctly it was like $60/each for the 7 of us for a private van and driver from Marrakesh to Zagora, stopping off along the way, and the trip on the camels into the desert, including the overnight, dinner, breakfast, etc. We did not have sleeping bags, but it wasn't as posh as cots, etc. Instead, they laid lots of layers of blankets down over the sand (the tent was floorless). I am definitely not a camper and my budget travel days were thankfully over after college, but I have to say the trip was amazing and I slept quite well once I got over my fear that something was going to slither or crawl under the side wall of the tent. |
