Marrakech whirlwind...seeking advice!
We're flying into Marrakech from Madrid...our stay...much too short...only 2 nights... but at least we'll have two very full days/evenings. Couldn't resist the lure of Morocco, so close to Spain, plus, such reasonable easyJet fares from Madrid.
We're staying in Riad Amira (in the Kasbah , very near the Saadian Tombs).
The riad owners are arranging a guide for us; their suggestion is for a 1/2 day tour.
We'd mostly like to visit some of the city's historical and cultural highlights, do a bit of souq wandering/shopping, but nothing too serious (no rugs!), and of course, hang out at the Djemma-El-Fna (late afternoon/early evening?).
We're also thinking of a hamman/gommage.
And...finally, if not overly ambitious, a 1/2-3/4 day trip to the Atlas Mountains. We've been told we could do it in 1/2 a day, so we're thinking: on our last day (our plane doesn't leave until 9pm). Again, the riad owners have said they could arrange for a guide to take us.
Any input/advice/comments/suggestions?
Any must see/do/taste/smell/touch recommendations for Marrakech?
Any hamman recommendations? Is this something that we'd need to arrange to do during the day...or could we do it in the evening?
Do you think a half-3/4 day trip to the mountains would be too much? I hope not!!
Even though this will be just a tiny little taste of Morocco, we're excited!

I would spend the 2 days if thats all you have in M-kech. We only had 2 days there and wished we had more. it took 3 days for the desert. If you really want you can use one of your days for the Atlas but again plenty in M-kech to keep you busy for 2 days

Dear laartista,
Yes, I read your great report...wish we had time to do a trip to the desert...but I'm happy for even just a glimpse of Morocco. We will definitely put the Majorelle Gardens on our list. Somehow, by way of your post I ended up on another great trip post...of Bankok, Cambodia, etc...the boy falls off elephant, toilet one!!! I can see this Fodor thing can get incredibly addictive!
