Marrakech Hotels
Has anyone ever stayed at the Riad Assakina in Marrakech? Trip Advisor rates it as #1 but I am wary of that. Any other hotel recommendations in Marrakech? Budget is not a problem.

Be very careful with TA recs for Marrakesh. See my TR http://www.fodors.com/community/afri...-medley.cfm?91 for why NOT to stay at the Dar Silsila, a TA #4 pick when I booked. I can recommend Riad Hasna - www.riadhasna.com .

Be very careful with TripAdvisor "ratings" in general. Read the content of the reviews. The "rating" is assigned based on average of the stars given by reviewers -- since reviewers have all kinds of reasons for giving good or bad reviews to a hotel, the content counts more than the stars. Also, this happened to me just the other day -- I gave a great review to a hotel, but it ended up with only 1* in my review. If you read what I wrote, I obviously thought it was worth way way more than 1*, but all TripAdvisor knows is that I "gave" it only one star.

Check out Riad Kniza. Gets great reviews. I stayed there with a Luxury Link package, otherwise it is really quite pricey. That being said, the room was massive and exquisitely decorated, and the service was top notch.

We also stayed at Riad Kniza in March 2007 for 3 nights. It was lovely, great breakfasts and the staff was very helpful. It is pricey but we thought it was worth it. We were traveling with our kids so stayed in the two room suite which was ideal and even had two bathrooms. Your room comes with a guide for 1/2 a day. Our guide Latif was wonderful and we hired him again for the next day.
