Marakesh: Maison Arabe - pool access?
 

Hello. My husband and I are doing a quick getaway to Morocco from NJ, USA. I am debating between La Maison Arabe and the Riad d'orangeraie in Marrakesh. Working against the Riad is the lack of airconditioning. Working against the Maison is the lack of pool onsite. We would appreciate any feedback from people who have stayed at either of the two places; specifically those who have stayed at the Maison and how much of a hassle it is to get to the pool.
Having a pool is not a central theme of this vacation (understanding this is not the Caribbean), but thought it would be nice to have a pool to cool off in at the end of the day.
Any tips or comments would be appreciated (We are spending 3 nights at Kasbah du Toubkal in the mountains,and 2 nights in Marrakesh).

There is another place (Relais & Chateaux) called La Villa des Orangers which features A/C and a pool. However this is a high-end place, and prices could be expensive depending on the season.

The web site for la Maison Arabe say that they do have a swimming pool for their customers, but it is located 10 mn away from the hotel...

stayed at maison arabe in a top floor suite in january 2000, their winter, it was simply fabulous!! however, i understand that since we were there that they have expanded from 10 to 17 or so rooms, so i don't know what it would feel like. but it was very luxurious and I have to say that we travel a lot, but a pool is not our priority, so can't comment on that. heard that new 5 star hammam opened in fes. you will enjoy morocco!

We just stayed at Riad D'Orangerie in Marrakech and out of all the places we stayed in our 10 days in Morocco, we were the least satisfied there. We booked it thru i-escape.

The pool is tiny and only my daughter splashed a bit in it. I think it is more for ambience for the courtyard entrance.If you are going soon, we did not feel a need to cool off at the end of the day as it was not that hot.

That said, the food was excellent our second night, so that is one thing we enjoyed there and the breakfast on the lovely terrace.

The lack of air conditioning in the Riad would only be a problem for you if you found the heat to be intolerable. When are you planning to visit?

my friend stayed at La Maison Arabe and said they had to get a shuttle to the pool which is not on site. said it was not that nice and would definitely book somewhere with a pool on site next time. unfortunately most of the traditional riads only have plunge pools.
