Hi everyone and first let me say that all of you are better informed than any travel agent. I have been on the board it seems forever trying to make decisons on our first, and possibly only African Safari. Rocco has answered many questions but I am still confused. So here goes.
1. Original plan was to try to go in August but I think this is foiled due to inability to get from LA to Africa with miles on business class. We can get to Europe but not the next leg. My better half will only go business as he is tall and a big guy.
2. Most of our friends have already been to Africa so probably going alone therefore feeling inlined to use a tour company.
3.Original plan was Cape Town, Botswana, and Victoria Falls. I was momentarily flored at the cost but have gotten over that. Now my brother-in-law and a group are going to Tanzania for the migration. They are using Nat. Habitat and the 8 days in mobile camps is about $5,000pp. They are doing gorilla trecking first and we do not want to do that.
4. These are the questions. How can we combine some of SA with the migration?
Should be skip the migration and just wait until 2007 to go to SA. Should we go with them in Feb. to migration and pick up Kenya or something for a week on our own first.
As you can see I am so confused. We have about 17 or so days, and if we could do this trip for $15,000(sigh) I would like to not including air.
I should add that we would like permanent tented lodges rather than hotel like accomodations wherever possible.

We have travel a lot in Europe, China, Turkey, Israel and this board has always been a great source of help. I have never had such a difficult time making travel decisions. That is probably why so many people go back to Africa more than once. Hopefully we will get that chance. I should add we are seniors but act like teenagers and I love photography.
