Jet, it depends on where you want to go. Malaria areas are in the north west part of the country, i.e. the northern part of KwaZulu Natal, the eastern part of Mpumalanga and the Northern Province. The best known place that is a malaria area is the Kruger National Park, so if you plan to go there, stock up.

Check out the following websites, may be they can help: and

It is a must to take these precautions in these areas - rather safe than sorry!

Enjoy your trip!!

Ps. I'm not a docter.

I am leaving for SA and Zimbawe in 6 weeks and found myself in the same situation as you. Finally, found an inmunologist/epidemiologist in my area who could administer the yellow fever and Hepatitis A vaccine, as well as, prescribe malaria pills. If you are in the US, go to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website. Here you will be able to find a directory of Travel Clinics with professionals certified to administer and prescribe these kinds of medications. Good Luck!

If you are a member of Kaiser HMO, they have a travel clinic that will give all the shots and the malaria med. Its quite expensive to go to a private dr. or clinic, so if you are a member of any HMO check them out to see if they have a travel clinic. Buck
