Makoa-Farm Tanzania

Does anybody know Makoa-Farm on the Slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania? Homepage is www.makoa-farm.com. I'm planning to travel to Tanzania and I'm a keen horseback rider.
Cheers Ladilot

Recall that Patti visited here for a few days.
Maybe she'll see this thread and be able to reply.

My husband and I did a horseback safari with Makoa back in 2005. My trip report is here http://www.fodors.com/community/afri...zania-trip.cfm It's the last 4 days of our trip so you'll have to scroll down. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I did Horseback Safari with Makoa in 2007. Everything was terrific and we enjoyed a similar experience as described in Patty's trip report above. The only issue we encountered was a serious tick problem, due to the large number of cattle grazing in the same areas as the game. This may be seasonal and also confined to specific areas. Another aspect to note is the 'cement hard' surface you are riding across at the base of Mt. Kili. Be sure to wear a riding helmet. Again, the surface is most likely area specific. If you ever get to Botswana, African Horseback Safari does a superb job in the Okavango Delta. I just returned from my fourth visit...truly exceptional in every way.
