Luxury safari with kid recommendations?

Hi, we are travelling to SA with our 9 yr old next April and want a luxury safari, probably tented. Anyone been to Savannah? Londolozi too expensive. We don't want the large places. Also, would you recommend malaria precautions for child? thanks

Look at site

www.e-gnu.com

select country, then the accommodations, then rates and other info. You will note that some camps do not allow children at all. At others, they may allow children, but they can't go out on safari game drives. You'll have to find a camp that does. Usually the minimum age for children is 12. So check this out carefully. This is mainly due to fact that you travel in "open vehicles" on drives, whereas, in Kenya where you find many children, they have closed, but "pop-top" vehicles.

As to malaria meds, you must check this out with a tropical deseases specialist and then with the child's pediatrition.

Of the two camps we stayed while on private reserve (adjacent to Kruger Park) on the Manyeletti Reserve - called Honeyguide, a luxury safari (not quite like Londolozi or Singita) is a truly "real" safari experience. There was a family there with 3 children of different ages, but I don't believe any were as young as 9.

Do check this out before you decide, as you shouldn't (nor your child) be disappointed.
