Luxor walkable?

I'm arriving and departing on the sleeper train and will have approximately 14 hours to see Luxor. Is it possible to walk it or should we hire a driver/car? We want to see the east and west banks, ect. all there is to see. Thanks for any advise.

The sites are all spread out - there is no way to see them on foot. Arrange for a guide and driver.

You've got time, but not by foot in order to see a lot. You can walk between Luxor and Karnak temples or take a carriage between the two. However, to do the West bank where the Valley of Kings and Queens is located, I would strongly suggest a guide and driver.

Though some adventurous folks do it by bicycle. These bikes, though, do look rather sad so no guarantee they will last an entire day.

Hire a guide/driver, price should be quite reasonable for their services, though you'd have to pay for entry fees to tombs (inexpensive)... and tip/s for guide/driver; it's a good idea to buy them lunch if they're with you most of the time.

Do remember, the heat - dry that it might be, but be prepared, especially so during the summer months May-October.
