Lubi - the new singita

Please tell us specifically about the kind of game that you saw there. Leopards, cheetah, rhino, African Wild Cat? Kills? You may be our first person on fodors who has been there!
Were the animals skittish?

We saw lions on 3 of our 4 drives, as well as rhino, a herd of elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe and zebra, hippos and crocodiles. In addition, we saw loads of NABI (not another bloody impala).

Unfortunately, we did not see any leopards or cheetah, or wild cats. The grass was quite long and thick, and the tracker said it would be virtually impossible to see any unless they were in the trees - and we were unlucky.

The animals were not at all skittish, and we were able to get close to them all without them being disturbed by our vehicle.

We did not see a kill, but got there very shortly after 4 lions got a water buck. It was not pretty watching the feeding frenzy, the water buck was still steaming. It was at night, but the lions were not at all bothered by our lights on them.

This was our first safari so we had nothing to compare it to, but the ranger said the area around Lebombo was still very wild, and much less travelled on than around Singita Boulders/Ebony.

Lubi, thank you so much for this reply. We have heard so little about Lebombo, this is helpful.
