long layover in Johannesburg Airport

This September we have a 6 hr layover in Johannesburg Airport. We are coming from the U.S. with a 2 hr. layover in Entebbe, then 6 hours in Johannesburg before on to Windhoek in Namibia. We change airlines in Johannesburg.

1) In which countr(ies) will be go through customs with our luggage?
2) Is anyone familiar with what facilities/activities available in the Johannesburg airport to fill our time?

Thank You!

Assuming you're on a single ticket, your bags should be checked through to your final destination and you will stay in transit at your two layovers.

JNB has pretty decent shopping, so you can do that for a while and then grab a bite to eat. If I had that long a layover, I'd buy my way into a lounge (Bidvest is good, ~$30-35). There are snack foods, fruits, and beverages and the chance to get off the main concourse and be comfortable. Showers are available too.

Shopping is great at Johannesburg Airport. I bought plenty of souvenirs to bring home for very good prices.

There is also a massage parlor, several cafes, coffee shops, restaurants.

We flew Business on KLM and used their lounge, which was terrible. Disgusting food, nothing fresh, dirty bathrooms, cannot even imagine their showers. Quite a contrast with beautiful KLM lounge in Amsterdam.

Thank you, very helpful information. I will look for Bidvest. A shower sounds wonderful!
